DAY 1 - WELCOME TO MADRID
Hola Madrid! The excitement was palpable as we touched down in Spain this afternoon. After a smooth flight, we hit the ground running with an incredible first stop: the spectacular Atlético Madrid Stadium!
Stepping into the home of the legendary club (founded all the way back in 1903) was a moment we won't forget. Walking through the players' tunnel in the massive modern stadium (which opened in 2017) and seeing the pitch up close had everyone feeling like stars. The museum, packed with trophies and history, got us all fired up for a week of Spanish adventures.
We've now checked into our hotel, shared our first group dinner, and are buzzing with anticipation. Madrid, we are so excited to explore you! Let's go!
Day 2 - Morning Adventures & Historic Heart
The group split this morning for two fantastic and immersive experiences. One half started the day with high energy at a large trampoline park, bouncing and laughing through the session. The other half enjoyed a hands-on Spanish cooking class, learning to prepare classic local dishes and then sitting down to enjoy the delicious lunch they created themselves.
This afternoon, we reunited in the city centre for a guided walking tour through the historic heart of Madrid, an area often called the “Madrid of the Austrias”. We began with a view of the majestic Royal Palace, the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. From there, we walked to the grand arcades of Plaza Mayor, a historic square full of stories and surrounded by traditional architecture. The tour culminated at the bustling Puerta del Sol, the symbolic centre of Spain. Our guide brought the history of these iconic landmarks to life with engaging stories and facts.
It was a wonderful day of active fun, culinary skill, and cultural discovery, giving everyone a true taste of Madrid's vibrant spirit.
Day 3 - Passion, Art & Flamenco
Today was a rich dive into Spanish culture, focused on the passion of flamenco. We began with a professional dance lesson, where students learned the foundational rhythms and steps of this expressive art form.
Afterward, we visited El Retiro Park. Despite a rainy spell that cut our time short, the group’s spirit was high as we saw the park’s famous central lake.
The afternoon was spent at the renowned Prado Museum, viewing masterpieces by Velázquez and Goya.
The day culminated in a powerful live flamenco show. The singing, guitar, and dance were captivating, and afterwards, some lucky students even got to take photos with the talented performers, a perfect end to a day of art and rhythm.
Day 4 - Sports Glory & Culinary Skills
For our final full day, the group split up once again for their second round of morning activities, this time swapping roles! Group B took to the trampolines, bouncing with confidence and energy. At the same time, Group A donned their aprons for a fantastic Spanish cooking class, mastering new recipes and then enjoying the delicious results of their efforts.
In the afternoon, we all came together for a major highlight: a tour of the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. This legendary ground, home to Real Madrid since its inauguration in 1947, offered us a glimpse into football history. Walking through the players' tunnel and standing pitchside gave everyone a real sense of the scale and legacy of this world-famous club.
It was a perfect mix of sport and culture, capping off our Madrid adventures on a high note. We returned to the hotel for a final group dinner, which featured the teachers' now-popular and entertaining "awards ceremony" to celebrate the memorable week.
Day 5 - A Frosty Fairytale in Segovia
For our final day in Spain, we took a trip to the stunning city of Segovia. Our morning was dedicated to the magnificent Alcázar de Segovia, a breathtaking castle that truly looks like it has sprung from the pages of a storybook. Exploring its grand halls and towers, which date back to the 12th century, was the perfect way to start the day.
In the afternoon, we wrapped up warm for a walking tour through the city's historic centre. We wandered the narrow, charming streets of the old town, taking in the ancient atmosphere and visiting the iconic Roman aqueduct.
As we boarded the bus for our return to Madrid, the day offered one last, magical surprise. Snow began to fall, blanketing the landscape in white. For many of our students, this was a wonderful and unforgettable first experience of seeing snowflakes from the warmth of our coach.
From a fairytale castle to a snowy send-off, it was a memorable finale. We then continued to Madrid-Barajas Airport for our evening flight back to Dubai, ending an incredible cultural journey.
